Marissa has been a Teaching Artist in NYC and Los Angeles since 2014. She specializes in centering students' identities and celebrating creative choice through movement, storytelling, puppetry, and play.

  • Marissa has 15 years experience with Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian jiu jitsu. She brings this intensity and self discipline to her work as well as Laban Movement, pantomime, yoga, and somatic movement practices.

  • She is passionate about devising, writing, and directing Theater for Young Audiences. Some of her favorite semesters were spent utilizing Process Drama to create original musicals with elementary students inspired by the wizarding world!

  • Being a Gymboree Manhattan teacher for almost 2 years, Marissa is skilled with babies and toddlers. She loves bringing, singing, silliness, and bubbles into her work whenever possible.

Other Work

Theater

Marissa has often been compared to the early 2000s meme “Grumpy Cat.” Her hidden talents include rolls, fitting into small places, passing for a middle schooler, or singing every word to Hamilton’s ‘Satisfied.’

Check out her Gallery for more performance stills and headshots.

Arts Administration

In her newest role as School Partnerships Program Manager at Girl Be Heard, she oversees 8 middle and high school afterschool programs in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Schools have looked and felt very different this year, being reflexive to the needs of her communities is a priority.
